Jam Sessions with feeling
Israel Cachao López is considered to be the creator of the mambo. He wrote more than 3000 danzones (traditional Cuban style) with his brother Orestes. They began in the descargas habaneras. These were sessions of free improvisation (in the style of jazz sessions), which became the inspiration for the spontaneous sound of salsa. These prolific sessions are heard on the recordings Cachao y su conjunto descarga and Jam Session with Feeling: Descargas cubanas. |

Master sessions vol.1
Israel Cachao Lopez, or simply, Cachao, is considered the inventor of mambo. Virtuoso bassist and excellent composer, he got his start in the professional music business in 1930 but although hes written more than three thousand Cuban dance songs and influenced musicians like Tito Rodríguez and Charlie Palmiero didnt become popularly known until 1993 with the documentary, Cachao. . . como su ritmo no hay dos. Master Sessions, Vol. 1 is an imposing album on which Cachao explores 20th century Cuban music; it won him a Grammy. |
