Cuenta Conmigo
With his third album, Jerry Rivera not only maintains his popularity but increases it and takes it to unsuspected levels. This album exceeded triple platinum sales (300,000 copies) in the United States and Puerto Rico. It also obtained a platinum disc in Venezuela, Colombia and Central America, and sold almost a million copies around the world. It is the best selling record since the legendary Siembra by Willie Colon and Ruben Blades. The album stayed at the number one spot of the worldwide famous Billboard magazine for more than three months. This unprecedented popularity was ratified in 1994, when Jerry won two Premios Lo Nuestro a la Musica Latina (sponsored by Billboard magazine and Univision) awards as Performer of the Year and Album of the Year in the Tropical Salsa category. The ceremony was watched by hundreds of millions of viewers around the world.

Tributo a Frankie Ruiz
Puerto Rican singer Jerry Rivera has paid homage to his idol Frankie Ruiz, who instilled in him his love for salsa, with his new album. Rivera, who has sung Ruizs songs ever since he was twelve, chose the tracks for his album in chronological order. One song stands out from the rest: Mi libertad, about Ruiz's prison stay. Jerry, together with rapper Voltio, gives this version of the song a modern twist, mixing the old with the new. Canto a mi idolo contains ten songs, including the hits La cura, Desnúdate mujer, Mi libertad, Puerto Rico" and "Bailando. This sincere and moving tribute was released in 2003. |
