Alejandro Sánchez Pizarro (Alejandro Sanz) was born in Madrid, Spain on December 18, 1968. He acquired his love of music from his godfather, composer Manuel Alejandro, and by the age of 7 already played the guitar and was composing his own songs. His first demo, recorded while he was still in his teens, was rejected by the Hispavox label. However, Warner accepted it enthusiastically and released it as an album in 1991. “Viviendo deprisa” obtained seven platinum records in Spain alone. In 1993 he released “Si tu me miras,” with excellent reviews confirming him as one of the best songwriters of his generation. He further expanded his popularity with the release of “3” and “Más” In 2000 he recorded “El alma al aire,” his greatest hit album. Later, he mounted a concert “MTV Unplugged” in 2001, with acoustic versions of his greatest hits. On September 2, 2003 he released “No es lo mismo.” The album was recorded and mixed in Madrid and Miami and included Anthony Jackson, Michael Landau, Vinnie Colaiuta and Paco de Lucía as musical guests. Triple album “Grandes éxitos: 91-04,” an overview of his career, was released on November 16, 2004 with hits like “Mi soledad y yo,” “No es lo mismo,” “Corazón partío,” “¿Si fuera ella?,” “La fuerza del corazón,” “Amiga mía,” “Pisando fuerte,” “Viviendo deprisa” and “Cuando nadie me ve” It also included two previously unreleased songs “Tú no tienes alma” and “Cuando sea espacio.”
