Ricardo Arjona was born in Antigua, Guatemala on January 19, 1964. When he was 3 years old, his family moved to Guatemala City. As a child he felt a passion for music and by the time he was 8 years old, already knew how to play the guitar. He released his first record “Dejame Decir Que Te Amo” at the age of 21. After a poor response, and since Arjona himself was not satisfied with the results, he abandoned his career for five years to study Advertising, while teaching music. However, his second album, “Jesus: Verbo No Sustantivo,” became a surprise hit with excellent response both in Latin America and the United States. The title song was top of the Central American charts for several months. He continued his career in Mexico where he recorded “Alcanzar una estrella” for a soap opera. He had excellent response to songs like “La Mujer Que No Soñe” and “Solo Una Mujer.” “Animal Nocturno” was his first record for Sony Music, and the final confirmation of his stature as romantic composer with songs like “Mujeres,” “Libre,” “Primera Vez” and “Baila Conmigo” He sold over 2 million copies of “Historias” followed by “Sin daños a terceros” and a more relaxed “Galeria Caribe,” with the participation of Cuco Peña, a legend of Caribbean music. In November 2002 he released “Santo Pecado” the best album of his career, which included some of his previously unpublished tracks.
