This singer was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico.

After a 15-year career, Daddy Yankee is considered one of the main voices behind reggaeton, a genre that emerged from the combination of latin rhythms with reggae and hip-hop. The lyrics of the first album and the vigorous live performances made everybody call him “The king of the impromptu performance.” His main albums are "El cartel de Yankee,” “El cartel de Yankee II,” “El Cangri.com” and “Los Home-runes.” All of them achieved platinum status and "El Cangri.com" became the best-selling album in Puerto Rico in 2002. In 2003, he gave a multitudinous show called “Ahora le toca al Cangri,” attended by 12,000 people. In 2004, Daddy finished his album called "Barrio fino;" this album confirmed his popularity and it was the album his fans were waiting for in order to dance again. The result is brilliant, his popularity went beyond all borders and the album was released in countries such as the United States, Italy, Peru and Japan. The success of “Barrio Fino” was due to the hit single “Gasolina,” a song that became of the song of the summer in many parts of South America. The album was awarded the Billboard of the Latin Music awards, in the category of “Reggaeton Album of the Year.”

Daddy Yankee is taking advantage of his live shows releasing “Barrio Fino Live," an album that reflects this moment in his career. He will also make a movie and its possible name is “Talento de Barrio.”
