Chambao is a particular musical and creative unit created by Eddi, Mar, Dani and Henrik in the Pedregalejo neighborhood of Malaga, Spain in the summer of 2001. Its magic lies in the perfect symbiosis of flamenco with chill out techniques. Chambao is an Andalusian word used to refer to any house or roof that acts as a shelter from the sun, wind and rain. The band made a bold move: they mixed the sounds and palos of flamenco with electronic music and created a new style from scratch, the flamenco-chill. Time proved them right; they succeeded where others failed and the number of flamenco-chill albums is growing. Chambao is one of the few bands that achieved a harmonic fusion of styles. In June 2003 the band released their debut album called “Endorfinas en la mente,” which spawned the single “Ahí estás tú.” They won the Ondas Award for Best Album and sold in excess of 80,000 copies in more than 20 countries. In 2005 Chambao released a new album titled “Pokito a poko" without one of its members, Dani. The highly successful album follows the creative line of Chambao with the warm and surrounding sounds of the new flamenco-chill style.
