Jerry Rivera conquers Italy |
The popular Puerto Rican singer Jerry Rivera received the warmest accolade of all during the Latin American Festival at Milan and also got unprecedented record ticket sales for a Latin artist. |

 According to a press release, the singer will give three concerts in Peru this week and his 2007 agenda will include Holland, Turkey and Germany, among other new destinations.
The same source claimed that the audience in Milan, Italy, threw themselves at his feet when he sang the songs from “Ay, mi vida,” his latest album.
Rivera arrived in Rome August 8 to take part in the Latin Festival, and after his debut in the Eternal City, the organizers requested he added more shows but he had work commitments elsewhere.
Before Rome, Rivera was in Antwerp, Belgium, where he took part in the Belgium Caribbean Festival for the first time in 16 years, and he also broke sales records.
London was the next stop of the tour. He played the Coronet Theater on Sunday August 13 to a full house.
Commitments for 2007 include the Zurich, Berlin, Frankfurt, Palermo and Sicily festivals, and some Turkish cities, as well as the same festivals he did this year.
Some weeks ago, Rivera released his latest album, “Ay mi vida,” in which he experiments with new rhythms and included some social commitment elements.
The album consists of eight ballads and a reggaeton, as well as three versions of those songs to the groove of salsa.
“I always wanted to do a diverse album, since ballads are my thing,” he said to an Internet news portal in Puerto Rico.
“For me, the participation of my sister was great. She sings better than I do, and it’s a good opportunity for people to know how well she can sing,” the Puerto Rican singer said about his duet with his sister, Saned, on the song, “Ríos de Dolor,” which has a social message.
With that song, Rivera experimented with reggaeton for the first time, although he admits to not having wanted to step into that genre.
“This song came about because I thought of the melody, while my sister accompanied me with her own style.”
The first single has a video that was filmed in Barcelona, in a tranquil landscape that, according to Rivera, “was the perfect setting.”
