 They're preparing to perform at the prestigious QUILMES ROCK festival in Argentina at the River stadium along with Keane.
Their song EL COLMO is getting major play on Puerto Rican radio as well as on the music video channels MTV, Channel 52, and Channel 30 in the country.
In the US, radio stations are playing PUESTO, the fifth single off their award-winning album ANOCHE.
On Sunday, April 15, they're headlining the Vive Latino Festival in Chile, along with Keane.
The Argentine rock band "Babasónicos" has been at the height of its success lately on tour in the US, where they visited cities like New York, Miami, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, filling the venues at all three stops.
The first stop was in New York, where they had been three years ago. This time, they played at the legendary club BB King's, managing to SELL OUT the venue, bringing in 2,000 people, mostly from the Latin community, who couldn't wait to see the most psychedelic and risk-taking rock-pop band of the era, a band that's been alive and in constant movement for almost 20 years.
The night was euphoric and the crowd sang along to hits from their latest album ANOCHE (recently nominated for a Lo Nuestro Award in the US for Best Rock Album,) as well as classics chosen from their other seven albums.
The next day they flew to Miami, where they performed at STUDIO A, an emblematic downtown location. According to the local press, more than 1,000 people filled the venue. It was the group's first show in Miami, a city they visited in February to do promotional work and represent rock at the Lo Nuestro Awards.
Again, a good showing from the city's Latin community experienced the intense Babasónicos show. No wonder Rolling Stone readers named the band the Best Latin American group of 2005, and their album ANOCHE, the best album of the same year.
The tour closed in San Juan, Puerto Rico, a city they've been planning to visit for many years. Babasónicos has a huge following in the country, and multiple generations of rockers have been waiting to see them. The memorable night took place at the Escambrón Beach Club, and more than 3,000 crazy fans sang along to every song of the show, which also featured local band "Circo."
This tour is the first phase of a series of visits to the United States and Puerto Rico, countries that are at the top of Babasónicos's agenda for concerts during all of 2007.
