Miami, FL, April, 2008.- Though Latin rock history may be relatively brief, it has its own heroes and featured in this very selective list is the Mexican rock band Caifanes. Emerging in the Latin rock scene in the late 1980s, the band has enjoyed remarkable success and a string of continuous hits throughout the entire continent.
The band would later change their name, while keeping most of the original members and continuing to make rock music history under their new name Jaguares. The much awaited release of “De Caifanes a Jaguares” is a perfect tribute to their transcendental 18 year music career and marks the band’s first compilation ever.
The new release by Sony BMG Latin is a treat that rock lovers cannot afford to miss. Available in two formats including a CD with 15 of their greatest hits and a DVD only with 11 videos as well as extras that include a documentary produced for Amnesty International and a photo gallery.
The impecable track selection begins in 1988 with the band’s first album “Caifanes” and the three released thereafter: El Diablito (1990), El Silencio (1992) and El Nervio del Volcán (1994). The millions of copies sold internationally, consolidated the band in the center of the Latin rock movement, covering from Argentina through Spain. Also featured are the band’s top hits in the ensuing years under their new name Jaguares with the leadership of Saúl Alonso and Alfonso André and the addition of César López, known as “El Vampiro”, the band continues to amass new artistic feats like playing before 100,000 fans at the famed Zocalo in the Mexican capital.
The release is available today at music stores nationwide. But, in the meantime, Latin rock history continues in the making.
