ALAS (América Latina en Acción Solidaria) Announces The Venues And Times For El Concierto Por Los Niños |
The Two Free Concerts That Seek To Aid Latin America’s Children In Need Will Take Place At The Following Locations On May 17th: Mexico City - La Plaza de la Constitución, (El Zócalo) - Starting at 5:00PM (Local Time) And Buenos Aires - Costanera Sur - Starting at 2PM (Local Time) |

 The Two Concert Sites Will Accommodate An Expected Audience Of Over 300,000 Fans. In Buenos Aires, Roughly 40,000 Tickets Were Distributed In The First 24 Hours Of Availability.
Artists Committed To Participate Include (In Alphabetical Order): Alejandro Sanz, Aleks Syntek, Ana Torroja, Babasónicos, Calle 13, Chayanne, David Bisbal, Diego Torres, Fito Páez, Gustavo Cerati, Jorge Drexler, Juan Luis Guerra, Juanes, Los Tigres del Norte, Maná, Miguel Bosé, Paulina Rubio, Ricardo Montaner, Ricky Martin, Shakira and Tania Libertad.
ALAS (\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"wings\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" in Spanish) today announces the locations and times for “El Concierto Por Los Niños” (“The Concert For The Children”). With many of the world’s leading Latin music artists participating in this call-to-action to aid impoverished children in Latin America, the two large-scale free concerts will take place on May 17th at Mexico City’s famed La Plaza de la Constitución (known as El Zócalo) beginning at 5:00PM local time, and the Constanera Sur reserve in Buenos Aires starting at 2:00PM local time. With venue sizes able to accommodate up to 200,000 people in Mexico City and another 120,000 in Buenos Aires, “El Concierto Por Los Niños” is expected to bring together well over 300,000 music fans. In fact, roughly 40,000 tickets were quickly grabbed by fans at special will-call windows in Buenos Aires in just the first 24 hours of availability.
“These momentous concerts seek not to raise money but rather to harness the power that comes from bringing thousands of music fans together to support the ALAS mission of strengthening and expanding public and private sector support for Early Childhood Development in Latin America,” said ALAS CEO Araceli Ruano.
Improving the lives of the thirty-two million Latin American children afflicted by poverty will require the integrated education, nutrition and health programs characterized by Early Childhood Development (ECD). ALAS was created by leading artists, intellectual figures and business leaders of Latin America to launch a new social movement that will generate a collective commitment to ECD by encouraging action from both governments and the private sector, while partnering with innovative organizations to create sustainable solutions.
